Someone Has Turned Ellen Baker Into a Pillow
Ellen Baker is a character featured in middle school level Japanese textbooks that teach people how to speak English.
Back in April, we found out that the publishing house, Tokyo Shoseki, is very unhappy with the Internet's reaction to Ellen Baker. Namely people drawing fanart of the popular teacher in less than pure situations. Here's a sample of one of the tamer pieces.
Some people on the Internet have tried to get the fanartists to stop depicting the pure school teacher in such an intimate light.
And others decided to go ahead and sell body pillows of Ellen Baker.
There's the English website, Hobby Heart, that is selling this Ellen Baker pillow for $40.
On the Japanese side of things, Pepera Shoten on Yahoo Japan is selling Ellen Baker pillows for a similar price of about $48, not including shipping.
I'm sorry Ellen Baker and Tokyo Shoseki. I don't think this will ever stop.
